The season is at a junction where every CDL point matters, and the Florida Mutineers just made the Champs bracket even more interesting. In their first match of Major IV, Florida defeated the Boston Breach by a score of 3-2, nearly getting reverse swept. The Mutineers came into today out of the top eight in the standings but earned 20 crucial points with their win. This places them just outside the top eight and sets them up nicely to sneak their way into the Champs bracket.
As for Boston, they nearly pulled off the second consecutive reverse sweep at Major IV but fell just short. The Breach couldn’t find a way in the map five Search and Destroy and they now fall to the loser’s bracket. Boston’s place in the Champs bracket is not secure even though they’re sitting in fifth place of the standings. If they don’t defeat the Seattle Surge in the loser’s bracket tomorrow, their Champs spot is in serious jeopardy with teams like Minnesota, Florida, and NYSL all gunning for it.
Boston can’t finish against the Florida Mutineers
After the first two maps of the series, it looked like Florida was not going to be denied. They were facing off against their former player Reece “Vivid” Drost and were clearly desperate for a win. They dominated the Breach on Gavutu Hardpoint to kick things off, which was a confusing map pick for Boston. Historically, they have not performed well on Gavutu; plus, they were against Florida’s three-AR lineup on an AR-heavy map.
Florida continued their dominance on Desert Siege Search and Destroy, with the duo of Joe “Owakening” Conley and Cesar “Skyz” Bueno carrying the squad. The next map, Gavutu Control, is where the Breach started their comeback.

Unlike the Hardpoint on the same map, Boston obliterated the Mutineers in the Control. Vivid took the third AR role and excelled, finishing with a 1.41 KD while Anthony “Methodz” Zinni also played well, only dying eight times. Methodz continued to terrorize Florida on map four Berlin Hardpoint, going off for 24 kills and a 2.00 KD in the Breach’s 100+ point win.
The stage was set for a reverse sweep for Boston, but Florida was having none of it. Despite a back and forth map on Bocage S&D, the Mutineers pulled away in the end, winning the last two rounds after the map was tied 4-4. Skyz, Owakening, and Mike “Majormaniak” Szymaniak all finished with a 1.05 KD or higher in the series, leading the Mutineers to a crucial series win. They now advance in the winner’s bracket and will face the winner of NYSL and Minnesota.

Boston drops to the loser’s bracket and they’ll play the Seattle Surge tomorrow. The Breach may have defeated Seattle earlier in the Major IV qualifiers, but Seattle’s Major III championship-winning squad are always dangerous on LAN.
