Day four of the Legends stage at the FACEIT Major in London was phenomenal. With more teams advancing to the Champions stage, we’ve seen it all today. Upsets, clutches, and absolute dominations.
BIG show a strong CT Train to beat HellRaisers
The very first match of the day brought us to Train. The first half left fans excited for more as a very back-and-forth game emerged. The German formation started off on t-side and although they pulled off a great pistol round, they failed to retain the early lead by losing the following three rounds. A very close game followed until the half came to an end at 8:7 for HellRaisers on the counter-terrorist side.

However, the ct-side display by BIG was something to admire. Owen “smooya” Butterfield and Fatih “gob b” Dayik created a fantastic defensive setup on ivy and b-site respectively. The two players guaranteed their side’s victory in tight situations which led to HellRaisers only to win one round the entire half before losing 16-9. For HellRaisers, a lackluster performance from Özgür “woxic” Eker, where he only got eight frags the entire half, was their downfall. BIG did extremely well to shut down the young Turkish talent.

Yet another game played out on Train, left the Swedish Ninjas struggling to get ahead of the underdogs in the first half. A close half, which was kicked off with an aggressive Vega on the first three rounds, finished 8:7 in favor of NiP. Although the underdogs kept it close in the half, Vega struggled to stop the terrorists on ct-side. After winning three of the first four rounds, NiP pulled way ahead with six rounds. Pavel “hutji” Lashkov’s performance wasn’t enough to pull his team together to fight on as they only got one more round before falling 16-11 and getting knocked out. Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund and his Ninjas play on.
FaZe show superstar quality after running over TYLOO
FaZe Clan has had a poor start to the tournament by going all the way 0-2. However, after yesterday’s and today’s performances we can definitely say that they have been warming up. Today’s matchup against TYLOO was just a formality for them.
This time we were transported to Mirage. The international FaZe quickly picked up the pistol after a triple tap from no one else but Nikola “NiKo” Kovač. The following rounds were pure torment for the Asian squad. It took them 10 rounds before they could pick up two rounds on their ct-side in the half. Fortunately, they managed to get another two before the half finished, making it manageable to mount a comeback, 11-4. Unfortunately, this was not the case. FaZe was just as effective on ct-side. They picked up a pistol real fast just to win the necessary five rounds to snatch the victory. Even though Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács was a menace for TYLOO the entire game with his AWP-ing, his whole team was playing incredibly well. Hopefully, this is just a fraction of what’s to come for FaZe and their form.

Denis “electronic” Sharipov had an absolutely fantastic time on Mirage against fnatic. Yet again we have come to see an initially close first half which went 8-7 in favor of Na’Vi on their ct-side. Unfortunately for the Swedish team, after half-time, we saw a new untamed beast on Na’Vi, electronic. The Russian helped his team to win the pistol round after tapping away on three counter-terrorists. He held his impact high throughout the half by getting fantastic entry frags as well as a phenomenal 3k after getting boosted up to window. Jesper “JW” Wecksell and his team were just unable to tame the beast that went off of its leash. fnatic only managed to win two rounds in the second half which led to their loss. Na’Vi won the match 16-9 and are the next team to qualify for the Champions stage.
G2 knock out the previous Major champions; Cloud9
After a dramatic match on Inferno which went into double overtime, the French G2 managed to finally outplay the American Cloud9. Both teams were on the verge of being knocked out with a 1-2 score so the stakes were high.

Both teams found success on pistol rounds on their respective t-sides. The halves were very back and forth, with neither team being able to pull away. The first half finished 8-7 in favor of G2 while the latter 8-7 in favor of Cloud9. A double overtime followed with hectic combat happening at bomb sites. It was Richard “shox” Papillon and Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham that were stepping up for their respective sides. Unfortunately for the Americans, shox’s clutches, such as the one in round 35, where he w0n a 1v2, were disrupting them from pulling away with a lead. In the end, it was the French formation that managed to survive the overtime with a 22-19 score. Cloud9 get knocked out of FACEIT Major 2018.
Astralis show absolute dominance against MIBR
Probably the most waited-for match of the day resulted in an upset that no one could have predicted. Astralis, this year’s most successful team in Counter-Strike, beat the American-Brazilian superteam roster 16-0.

Beginning on ct-side of Dust 2, Astralis dominated from the very start. Nicolai “device” Reedtz was looking hot, getting three kills right off the bat and that was only a glimpse of what was to come from the Danes. Astralis went on to grab the remaining 15 rounds at the half. MIBR was definitely having trouble getting the necessary kills to close out the rounds and it was difficult for them to even get bomb plants. Of course, device went rampant with the AWP getting 14 in just 16 rounds. Nevertheless, the rest of his team were fragging just as much except Emil “Magisk” Reif who had a quiet game with just seven kills. On the first round after half-time, Jake “Stewie2K” Yip was left in a 1v2 situation near the A bomb-site. After getting the first opponent he was unable to get the final kill and so Astralis have won without conceding a single round.
After this victory, Astralis join the remaining teams in the Champions stage. This domination just goes to show how dangerous and unpredictable this year’s iteration of the Danish Astralis really is. As for MIBR, they go down with a 2-2 score and will fight for survival tomorrow.
