After the recent reveal of which players are in the 2021 LCS Honda Scouting Grounds, invite issues has led to Lawrence “eXyu” Xu’s removal from the competition. This issue stemmed from an ‘erroneous invite’ from their scripted invite list, which apparently resulted in eXyu receiving an invitation instead of Calm Antebellum.

“Earlier this week, we revealed the full list of invites for the 2021 LC Honda Scouting Grounds,” the LCS said in its statement on Twitter. “Yesterday we found an issue with the script used to calculate the invite list, resulting in an erroneous invite being sent. Unfortunately, this means eXyu will not be able to participate in Scouting Grounds matches. We sincerely apologize to eXyu for the mistake and have invited him to participate in a handful of the activities at Scouting Grounds regardless, including 1:1 interviews with LCS coachs, a presentation from the Players Association, and a Pro Player Mindset Workshop. We were able to correctly send a Scouting Grounds invite to Calm Antebellum – he has accepted and will be joining us for the full event.”
The mistake and the aftermath
Two days after revealing the teams for the 2021 LCS Honda Scouting Grounds, the LCS revealed a mistake it made. The LCS set up a script to send invites to players for Scouting Grounds but sent one wrong invite. That one ended up going to eXyu, but the LCS didn’t realize its mistake until after it announced the teams on Twitter. As for eXyu himself, he found out recently and was ‘devastated’ hearing he wasn’t playing at the Scouting Grounds.

eXyu’s past
After playing for teams like UC Berkley, Fruition Esports and ConViction, eXyu is now on the Cloud9 Amateur squad. His play on Viego led to a good start for Cloud9 Amateur. But ultimately, the team lost twice in a row and were eliminated from the tournament by their organization cohorts, Cloud9 Academy.
The 2021 LCS Honda Scouting Grounds event goes from Nov. 8-13 on Twitch, with players competing for their chance to impress and make it to the LCS.
