One of the premier Super Smash Bros. Melee netplay majors will return this weekend with its first iteration of the year. Players all throughout North America will have the chance to compete in Galint Melee Open: Spring Edition 2022.

Here’s everything viewers need to know going into the latest online tournament hosted by the Canadian Galint Gaming crew.

How to watch Galint Melee Open: Spring Edition 2022

Fans can watch the tournament on Beyond the Summit’s btssmash Twitch channel and the Galint Gaming Twitch channel. The event will include region-locked Singles and Doubles brackets for both the East Coast and the West Coast. In addition, players can participate in a free-play ladder system throughout the weekend.

Unlike previous Galint Melee Opens, the Spring 2022 tournament will not merge brackets at any point. As a result, there will be separate champions for the East Coast and the West Coast. The tournament is scheduled to kick off on Saturday with East Coast Doubles at 1 p.m. ET, followed by West Coast Doubles at 4 p.m. ET. Then, East Coast Singles will begin at 5 p.m. ET, while West Coast Singles will start at 8 p.m. ET.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday, with the East Coast top eight taking place at 3 p.m. ET. Finally, the West Coast top eight will begin at 8 p.m. ET. Meanwhile, the online ladders will run on both days from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET.

Road to Battle of BC

Along with a currently undetermined prize pool, participants will be competing for an invitation to Battle of BC 4, Galint Gaming’s upcoming offline major. The first-place finishers in each bracket will have their registration costs covered for Battle of BC, along with receiving accommodations and a flight stipend worth nearly $320.

In addition, Battle of BC will be home to the “true grand finals.” There, the East Coast and West Coast champions from Galint Melee Open: Spring Edition 2022 will get to face off in person. Battle of BC 4 will take place from July 10-12 in Vancouver and will be a Smash World Tour gold event.
