Leaks have continually emerged for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II over the last few weeks. With insiders receiving more information and data miners digging into game files, there might not be many secrets left for Activision to unveil.

Recently, data miners have been the main source for leaks. The files for Warzone Mobile have proven to be extremely fruitful for miners looking to discover strings of code relating to MWII. One of the more recent leaks to come by way of data mining is the various game modes for Modern Warfare II multiplayer.

Game modes are always a talking point for the community both before and after a Call of Duty title has come out. Traditionally, fans want to see the return of classic game modes in addition to a couple of new ones that will hopefully become mainstays in the franchise. In years past, the developers haven’t been terrific at developing new game modes that stick around for future titles. Perhaps MWII will look to change that.

For now, though, fans can look at all of the currently known game modes that could arrive in MWII.

Modern Warfare II leaked game modes

The leaker who has been delivering all of this data-mined information is @r3al1tyuk on Twitter. They recently leaked an entire perk list for multiplayer as well as possible Field Upgrades. Following that, they also discovered several game modes, along with their in-game icons, through their data mining of the Warzone Mobile files. Here are all of the game modes they have found so far:

  • Team Deathmatch
  • Domination
  • Search and Destroy
  • Free For All
  • Hardpoint
  • Knockout
  • Ground War Bomb
  • Infected
  • Demolition
  • Capture the Flag
  • Cyber Attack
  • Headquarters
  • Cranked

The first five game modes on that list are guaranteed to be included with Modern Warfare II. They’re the most popular modes, and a COD title wouldn’t be complete without them.

The rest of the additions are quite interesting, though. Knockout is a 6v6, round-based mode that is essentially big-team Gunfight. Cyber Attack and Ground War Bomb are unknown. Those were modes in Modern Warfare 2019, so it’s not surprising to see them possibly make a return to the sequel.

The other modes, including Infected, Demolition, Capture the Flag, Headquarters and Cranked, are all modes we’ve seen in previous games, but they’re not included with every new game. Infected, in particular, is one that should catch fans’ eyes. This party game mode is extremely popular thanks to its enjoyable and laid-back nature. Players need to survive a group of infected enemies with set weaponry, and after dying, they respawn as infected themselves.

Demolition, CTF, Headquarters and Cranked are from various titles that all should be a part of core multiplayer. CTF especially could see more of a spotlight, as it’s historically a competitive mode that could make its way into the Call of Duty League.

As always, take this information with a grain of salt, as none of it’s confirmed officially. However, r3al1tyuk has provided in-game icons for each game mode, so we know each one was at least in the works at some point. We may see Activision confirm some of the game modes later this summer.
