A new crossover event is coming to Fortnite, courtesy of Epic Games and the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers video game. Epic Games has worked with Marvel several times in the past, bringing multiple game modes and cosmetics themed around the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve seen the villain Thanos in the game along with Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, and so on.

However, this new crossover doesn’t focus on Fortnite as much as it does Marvel’s Avengers by Square Enix. Releasing on September 4, the ambitious title is set to start an open beta for consoles later in August. It’s through this beta that players can get new Avengers-themed cosmetics.

How to earn the Avengers cosmetics in Fortnite

Unlike other crossover events, players will need to hop into another game to receive items in Fortnite. Of course, this time it’s playing the new Marvel’s Avengers title, which releases an open beta that will go through August. If you’ve preordered this game, you can download the beta through PlayStation 4 on August 7. Here are the other start dates for those who haven’t preordered on PS4.

  • August 14-16: PlayStation 4 Open Beta
  • August 14-16: Xbox One Pre-Order Beta
    • Marvel Avengers Xbox One pre-order players only
  • August 21-23: Open Beta on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Unfortunately, you’ll need to do more than just download the beta to receive the Fortnite cosmetics. Within the beta, there are three “HARM challenges” you need to complete. After you’ve completed these, make sure your Epic Games and Square Enix accounts are linked on PlayStation or Xbox. You can do this by following the steps on Epic’s website.

If you’ve done all of that, the Hulk Smashers Pickaxe and additional HulkBuster style are yours in Fortnite! Both items should be waiting in your locker the next time you open the game.
