While E3 may not host a digital event this year, that hasn’t stopped other companies from holding their own shows. On the Electronic Arts Twitter account, the company announced it will once again hold its annual EA Play Live online. The event overlaps with the recently announced Summer Game Fest. The Summer Game Fest has partnered with more than a dozen publishers, including EA.
EA Play returns
At last year’s EA Play, the publisher showcased gameplay from Fifa 2020, the Marita map for Battlefield V, and the Apex Legends story cinematic “A Father’s Letter”.
While nothing has been announced for this year’s EA Play, viewers should expect some big announcements this time around. With the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X scheduled to release later this year, we can expect EA to reveal some major titles for the next-gen consoles. The company also recently announced that the last updates will come soon for both Star Wars Battlefront II and Battlefield V. With the next console generation coming soon, EA Play would be the perfect opportunity to announce new entries in both series.
Additionally, major EA titles like Apex Legends could get new DLC including events, maps, or a new character reveal. Potentially, given the success of Apex Legends, a new Titanfall sequel could even come to the series. Meanwhile, sports fans should expect new entries in the Fifa, Madden, and NHL series.

Last year, Overwatch commentator Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez hosted both the Apex Legends and Fifa shows. Steamers Pokimane, Juanpa Zurita, and David Dobrik attended the meet and greet opportunities with fans. While that can’t happen this year, players should expect some type of streamer partnership.
EA Play Live is scheduled for June 11 on the company’s website. Daily Esports will keep you updated as more information becomes available. Hopefully, we’ll see some exciting content at this year’s show!
