So far with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, there have been a few complaints from the community. One of the major ones has been surrounding the Dark Matter camo challenges, which we covered earlier today. However, right alongside next to that issue have been complaints about the leveling system. For both military ranks and weapon levels, players feel that it takes an eternity to progress. With such a slower leveling system in multiplayer, some players have even turned to Zombies to rank up.
How long does it take to level up in Black Ops Cold War?
If you’re looking for ways to expedite your military rank leveling, you can check out our guide on how to rank up quickly. However, even if you take advantage of these strategies, don’t expect to level up extremely fast.
For whatever reason in multiplayer, the XP required for each level is unusually high. This goes for both military ranks and weapon levels. For example, staff at Daily Esports has around nine hours of in-game playtime and is still only level 40. Furthermore, they have nearly 1,500 kills with the MP5 SMG and the weapon is still not at max level 55.
In terms of comparisons to previous titles, this amount of required XP is far more than normal. Perhaps the new Prestige system has something to do with the grind being so slow in regards to military ranks.
However, even if that is the case, Treyarch still needs to look at toning down the requirements for weapon levels. It shouldn’t take over 1,500 kills with one weapon to reach max level. Sure, the later attachments should require some work but not to that extent.
Treyarch has undoubtedly heard the complaints from the community. The developers also have hard data that show exactly how long it’s taking for players to rank up their level and weapons. Hopefully, this data shows the devs that a slight adjustment is in order to ensure a smoother experience in Black Ops Cold War multiplayer.
