The final week of the 2022 League of Legends Championship Series summer split looked to be an exciting one for Counter Logic Gaming; however, through the first two games, it has just been depressing. After the team clinched their first playoff berth in two years, the team looked to continue their ascent through the LCS standings, and were in a position to secure a top two seed heading into playoffs as long as they went 3-0. So far they’re 0-2, with losses against TSM and 100 Thieves; to say it’s been discouraging for CLG’s top laner Niship “Dhokla” Doshi is an understatement.

“I think right now, we look [even worse] than we have this whole split,” Dhokla said. “This next week of practice and the game tomorrow will be really important for us to reset for playoffs, honestly this whole super week has not been good for us.”

The team dropped a shocking game to TSM to kick off Superweek and looked lost in their game against 100, when looking at what has gone wrong, Dhokla said it’s a mix of things.

“I’m not sure exactly, but our decision-making has been a bit off,” Dhokla said. “I would say it’s uncharacteristic and it’s a problem we that we’re gonna need to fix.”

But a lot of good stuff has come from CLG this season, and they’re nowhere close to finished yet. The team has gone from perennial bottom-dwellers to a playoff team in just one split’s time. But to Dhokla it’s not nearly as good as he wants CLG to be, he set the goal at the beginning of the split for CLG to be top three and make worlds.

“Obviously it’s an improvement from last split, but I think we’re coming short of the goal that I set for myself,” Dhokla said. “You can’t really be content with what you have, I’m definitely happy how far we’ve come but there is still work to do.”

It’s likely that CLG will take on C9 in the first round of playoffs. The series will be a tough one but Dhokla is glad that if CLG were going to lose games, it was now instead of later.

“It’s better I get the int out of the way really,” Dhokla said. “It’s definitely bad but motivating to get better from these losses.”
