Overwatch League franchise Dallas Fuel has announced that it will be lowering ticket prices for its remaining homestands. The North American esports organization released a parody video of Blizzard Entertainment Vice President Jeff Kaplan talking about the price change. This update comes even after the popular team sold out its recent matches, with heaps of positive feedback from fans for its 2019 event.

Cheaper Dallas Fuel homestand tickets

“We’ve sold out both of our Dallas Fuel home stands. You guys have been the best family for the team I could ask for. So let’s make sure even more people can experience the Dallas Fuel live this season,” wrote Mike “hastr0” Rufail, CEO of Envy Gaming, in a Twitter post. “Announcing about a 50% cut in ticket prices here. Anyone who has already purchased tickets will receive an automatic, digital refund for the difference. What can you do for us in return? Just get loud baby.”

The 2019 event at the Allen Events Center showed great promise for Dallas Fuel to implement the home and away game format. However, the switch from one event to five in 2020 means that a high price point for tickets might discourage fans from attending. While the tickets themselves aren’t too costly, many are also paying for travel, food, and other expenses to make the trip over. Some fans even come from other states, with flight tickets and hotel stays driving the price up.

Lowering prices to increase attendance

Overwatch League franchises will have to deal with fans being less interested in the later homestand events. The first or second event may seem interesting for fans to get a feel of the atmosphere. However, many will not pay hundreds of dollars to go to what seems like a duplicate of a previous event. As such, the choice to lower ticket prices by Envy Gaming is perfect.

Tickets that formerly cost $65 for the weekend are now at a $39 price point. Single-day tickets are also available for $19. The Dallas Fuel will host their next homestands at the Toyota Music Factory on April 4 – 5 and the Allen Event Center on April 25 – 26, with both seating 3,500 people.
