Atlanta FaZe might have to undergo even more turnover from the 2022 Call of Duty League Season.
After dropping Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson for Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat early on in the 2022 offseason, most FaZe fans hoped that would be the extent of the roster changes. However, according to Atlanta’s world championship head coach, James “Crowder” Crowder, the team will also need to fill his head coaching spot.
It’s been long-rumored that Crowder was out as the head coach of FaZe. Soon after CDL Champs concluded in early August, Crowder took all references to head coaching and Atlanta FaZe out of his Twitter bio. While this isn’t confirmation by itself, he recently stated on stream that he will not be the head coach of Atlanta FaZe moving forward. It’s still not 100% whether he was being serious or not, but as of right now, it looks like Atlanta will need a new head coach for the 2023 season.
Atlanta FaZe might need to replace Crowder
Crowder didn’t go into much detail when asked about his status as Atlanta’s head coach. One viewer simply asked the streamer if he was still the head coach, to which he replied “no.”

This clip by itself isn’t too revealing, as Crowder seems to just be brushing off the question as he attempts to take his dog out. However, paired with the fact that he’s taken every reference to being FaZe’s head coach out of his Twitter bio, it certainly seems like Crowder could be moving on from coaching.
If he were to stop coaching, it’s unclear what Crowder’s next steps professionally would be. He’s been a full-time streamer since the 2022 CDL season ended, so that seems like a logical transition. If this were to happen, Crowder would presumably stay under the FaZe organization, as he’s continued to show support for them.
It’s also possible that the coach is simply transitioning to another role within the Atlanta FaZe organization. Perhaps he could become a general manager or assistant coach, which would likely give him more time to stream, giving him the best of both worlds.
We’ll likely hear more regarding Crowder’s future towards the end of the 2022 CDL offseason. Until then, fans will surely keep asking him about his coaching status on his Twitch streams.
