Cloud9 has officially said goodbye to its LCS midlaner, Luka “Perkz” Perkovic as of Friday. The team released a farewell video with good wishes from his teammates. In the video, Perkz stated that he missed his family and friends in Europe and wanted to build his life back home in Croatia.
This comes after talk of Perkz returning to Europe and a clause in his contract that prevented a move to Fnatic. The accomplished mid laner leaves Cloud9 after just one season in the LCS.

Perkz’ time with Cloud9
After five years with G2 Esports and a role swap to AD Carry, Perkz moved to North America to join C9 as a midlaner in Nov. 2020. This move had many C9 fans excited for the new season and they were not let down. Perkz and the team finished first in the regular spring split and went on to win the LCS Mid-Season Showdown. They also represented NA in the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational, but failed to make it past the knockout stage.
In the 2021 summer split, the squad struggled with inconsistency becoming the norm. Fortunately, they were able to turn it around during the LCS Championship and clinched a ticket to the Worlds 2021 Play-In. At Worlds, Perkz and his team defied expectations, clawing their out of the ‘group of death’ to advance to the quarterfinals. They became the only western team to make it past groups and the first NA team to do since 2018. Even though their Worlds run ended with a 3-0 loss to Gen.G, C9 and Perkz had created another historic moment for NA.
While there is no official confirmation on what is next for Perkz, it is certain that he will return to Europe and likely play for Team Vitality. Although Perkz’ time in NA was short, it was definitely memorable.
