Cloud9 dominated the LCS Spring Split Series from day one all the way to their final game against FlyQuest. Reining as the strongest team in the Series, they proudly pushed their 17 wins to Playoffs, winning every single game. The final three games ended with C9 lifting the trophy as the LCS Spring Split Championships for the first time in six years.
C9 showed motivation and determination throughout the entire season. To no one’s surprise, then, they took the finals with a score of 3-0. Their first game against FQ ended with 21 kills, four Drakes, and two Barons as FQ struggled to reach objectives. Each C9 member did their part to push towards their first victory, with their ADC Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen dominating the rift with eight kills. Overall, C9’s Top Laner Eric “Licorice” Ritchie as Sett and Zven as Miss Fortune did the most damage together, contributing a lot to their team fights and gold difference.
The second game proved even worse for FQ, who barely earned any objectives and held little control of the map. Zven and Licorice once again showed their strength as they went 15-1 together. Although FQ managed to trade kills within team fights, C9 still ended up having better communication and awareness. Unfortunately, FQ’s push-back in the final game wasn’t enough to earn a win. C9 pushed for their Nexus at 28 minutes.

Onwards to MSI
Finally, Cloud9 can celebrate their long-waited victory as the LCS Spring Champions. This will be their third LCS title, with their last one coming in the 2014 LCS spring season. They will now represent North America for July’s Mid-Season Invitational. To continue celebrating, they even released brand new merchandise, with a design showing off their newly-earned title.
Unfortunately, FlyQuest went home empty-handed, but they are taking this as an opportunity to grow for the LCS Summer Split. Coming in second place is still something to be proud of, especially next to the uncontested Cloud9.
Our Spring journey ends with 2nd place, but it’s been an incredible run. It’s been a season of progress and there’s no doubt this experience will provide a strong foundation for an even stronger showing in Summer.
