Esports fans are always hoping for the chance to see esports where they live, and that’s no different for Call of Duty as the league returns to live events around North America. However, while OpTic member Davis “Hitch” Edwards mused on how much fun Champs would be London, Esports Engine employee Ben Nissim said the company has been pushing for CDL champs in Europe.

Esports Engine is the production company that oversees CDL events, and while they would need approval from Activision Blizzard (who owns the league), they are equipped to make such an event happen.

“From this end, we have been actively pushing as best we can to make this happen at some point,” Nissim said. “I think we all agree it would be an all time event.”

CDL Champs 2022 will likely take place in August, meaning a venue and other details will have presumably already been worked out by now. While not out of the question, it seems like CDL Champs will remain in the US for 2022. However, if Nissim and Esports Engine keep pushing for London as a Champs host in the future, perhaps 2023 will be the year that the event goes overseas.
