Another superteam is forming in the League of Legends European Championship. Rasmus “Caps” Winther is officially leaving Fnatic for G2 Esports. Also, Luka “Perkz” Perković is moving to the ADC position.
All that @FncCapsLoL has ever sought is the possibility of what he can be – of what his team can be.

Fnatic would announce the roster move on the 25th, confirming multiple reports and rumors that would come up throughout the past weeks. Additionally, Sam Mathews, the founder and chairman of Fnatic, would leak the G2 move in a tweet. He would say, “I’m sad your run here has ended prematurely, [but] our door is always open. I hope G2 treats you the way you deserve!” However, he would quickly delete the tweet and promptly send out another tweet saying, “Woops”.
Fnatic and the Poaching Scandal
There are multiple rumors spreading across the League community, saying that G2 Esports would poach Caps from Fnatic. For example, Sam Mathews would send a tweet out two days earlier:

These are some pretty big allegations coming from the Fnatic founder, as poaching is a serious offense. According to Riot Games, “poaching can only occur when a Team Member (either player or coach) has a contract listed on the Global Contract Database and another team/owner/player approaches that Team Member. Contracts are only listed on the Global Contract Database when a Team submits the required documentation to the League for a newly signed Team Member and receives approval for that player.”
Former Fnatic player and teammate, Paul “sOAZ” Boyer, would defend Caps though. He would tweet out that Caps was allowed to talk to teams, so the allegations could be false. However, it would be quite odd to think that the actual founder of Fnatic would send out such allegations without thinking of the consequences. Additionally, he would send out another tweet, stating that “Fnatic’s yearly investment in LoL will over double in 2019”. Apparently, the Caps move to G2 was not a financial decision, so hopefully, they can rebuild in the coming future.
Looking Forward
The future is bright for G2 Esports, and their chances for success this coming year. With the combination of Perkz and Caps on the same team, they may have the best mechanical team in the West. In fact, those two players were always considered rivals during their splits together. The only question mark, as we’ve said before, is Perkz transferring to the bottom lane. We will need to see how he will adjust playing with rumored support, Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle.
Another point of discussion in the League community is how the team dealt with former bottom lane duo, Petter “Hjarnan” Freyschuss and Kim “Wadid” Bae-in. Apparently, the team would basically push the duo to the wayside to make room for Caps. A now-deleted tweet from Wadid would say, “I am so sorry, guys. Cannot [say] anything yet. Don’t wanna make jokes about it anymore. It’s really not funny for me and Hjarnan.” Although there is a ton of hype surrounding the inevitable addition of Caps to the roster, there is a good share of drama within the situation as well. We will have to watch and see how the ordeal unfolds in the coming days.
