Raids are the newest piece of content to arrive in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, coming with this week’s Season 1 Reloaded update.

The first Raid in the game is called Atomgrad and it takes players on a two-hour-long journey of killing AI, solving puzzles, and discovering secrets related to the MW2 Campaign. The Atomgrad Raid has received relatively decent reviews thus far, but some players have not been able to experience it yet. Since the Raids in Modern Warfare 2 are a three-player mode, players without two friends have been left in the dust.

Naturally, players have asked if they can do the Atomgrad Raid as a solo player. After all, you can do everything else in Modern Warfare 2 solo, so why not the Atomgrad Raid? We explain all of the details behind the Raids’ possible player counts below.

Playing the Modern Warfare 2 Raids solo

Unfortunately for those who enjoy playing Call of Duty alone, it’s not currently possible to take on the Atomgrad Raid solo. The Raid requires you and two other players to be in a party when you enter Atomgrad.

To make matters worse, there’s no option for matchmaking in the current version of Raids. This means players without friends truly can’t experience the Raid, as they’re not able to be placed with two other random people. It’s unclear why the Raid doesn’t have matchmaking, as the Spec-Ops missions feature matchmaking as does normal multiplayer.

Perhaps this will change with future Raids, but Atomgrad needs to be experienced in a party of three. If you’re looking for more players to party up with, you can poke around on social media, like Reddit, or in the official Call of Duty Discord. Hopefully, players are able to find other solo players to experience the Atomgrad Raid with.
