Umbral Engrams are now Seasonal Engrams
The first big change we need to clarify for Lightfall is the way engrams have changed. Before, umbral engrams allowed players to pick specific items from vendors if they chose to use multiple engrams at once. Now, for seasonal engrams, the system is a little different with the Focused Decoding section.
You can still aim to acquire key items by spending extra resources, but the expended resources are different. Instead of stacking multiple engrams, you can just use Glimmer and Legendary Shards to get the items you want.
The Queensguard questline the best way to get Seasonal Engrams
When it comes to earning Seasonal Engrams, the best way is through the Queensguard questline. This questline begins as soon as you get your seasonal item from Nimbus on Neomuna. After talking to Mara Sov on the holoprojector on Neomuna, you can follow the questline as it progresses weekly.
Thanks to the questline’s focus on the Defiant Battlegrounds playlists, the questline helps you progress down the seasonal pass quickly. Not only are seasonal engrams common drops during this questline, but completing the questline helped complete seasonal triumphs, rewarding players with War Table upgrades and lots of XP.
Seasonal triumphs are the key
Speaking of which, those seasonal triumphs are both the best way to get seasonal engrams and seasonal pass XP. Not all of these triumphs, which are easily accessible through the Quests tab, revolve around the Queensguard questline.
