Overall Thoughts

Can we take a moment to catch our breath and appreciate these fantastic cards? Okay, now that we’ve got that covered, let’s review them. As you can see from above, these are the best players in FIFA 19. Also, the players featured above have been the best players in the game for some time now. What that means is that their cards won’t change that drastically from previous years.

In most cases, players of this quality are upgraded by one or maybe two points maximum. In addition to that, I feel that these player ratings are accurate. These are the best of the best, and they deserve their cards. With all that said, there are a few things I would’ve liked to see altered, just a tad.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

You know we have to start with the big guns: Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. These two have been the best two players in the game for the past ten years. It’s always fun to see which one of them will be rated higher than the other and this year we have them at the same rating. I feel that these two should never share an overall score because one has to be better than the other. In every game, there has to be one guy who is the marquee player that season. Based off of last year’s performances, it would be Cristiano Ronaldo. 15 goals in the Champions League, 26 in La Liga, and he added another Champions League trophy to his name. Also, he did score one of the best goals of all time.

In comparison, Lionel Messi had just as good a year as Ronaldo. Messi scored 34 goals in the league, 6 in the Champions League, and he also won the league as well. Like I said earlier, these are small margins, but for me, I would’ve given Ronaldo the little extra nudge. Considering he’s also the cover boy for FIFA 19, you’d think he’d have the best card. 95 for Ronaldo and 94 for Messi would have been my ideal rating but how can I complain about 94s for both of them. Those are still incredibly stacked cards, and it will be a lot of fun to play with them.

The first being Luka Modrić. First of all, if you don’t think Modrić is the best centre-midfielder in the world then we have some problems. Considering his amazing performances in the World Cup and winning another Champions League, 91 is an amazing rating. Personally, I would’ve given him a 92 because I feel he’s on par with the quality of Neymar. Now I know the ratings are based on performances, position, and all that, and with a 91, he is the BEST midfielder in the game. Seeing as he was a 90 last year and his performances were exceptional, 92 would be a beast rating for him, but 91 is not bad at all. In comparison to Modrić’s rating, I feel that Toni Kroos’ rating is fair. He had another good year, nothing out of the ordinary from him, so his rating stays the same. After a rather lackluster World Cup with Germany, I would’ve been okay with his rating dropping to an 89 but 90 is fair for a player of his caliber.

Best of the rest FIFA 19 player ratings

Now let’s look at the others FIFA 19 player ratings featured on this list, and I’ll try to sum them up quickly. David De Gea’s rating is fair considering his disastrous World Cup performances for Spain. He had another solid year with United, establishing himself as one of the world’s best. Of course, you need the best player for every position, so 91 is a fair rating. Next up is Luis Suárez. For me, I would’ve liked to see him given a 90 because last year wasn’t that great a year for him, and we can tell time is catching up with him. He still is the best striker in the world in my eyes, so with that said, he needs to have a better rating than any other striker, so 91 is fine for me.

Now let’s look at the man we all love to hate, Sergio Ramos. He is the best centre-back in the world. No question, case closed. Eden Hazard also deserves a 91, as he’s consistently been one of the worlds best over the last couple of years. Same goes for Kevin De Bruyne, who in my opinion is going to pass Modrić as the best CM in the world. Last up is Neymar Jr. There isn’t too much to say with his 92 rating. For me, he and Modrić are both on par as the third best player in the world. 91 would maybe have been a better rating because I feel off of last year’s performances, he and Hazard were on the same level. But, he is the best left-winger in the world, so he deserves the 92 rating.
