Some members of the Call of Duty community questioned Minnesota RØKKR’s decision to maintain their same roster going into the Vanguard season. However, the decision to keep the core four players together is a strength in the eyes of Call of Duty veteran Dillion “Attach” Price.
“I feel like the chemistry is just there,” said Attach. “We know how to work with one another and what everyone is like too. We are able to get down to business when it comes to practice for tournaments and all that.”
The RØKKR had varied success throughout the Cold War season, but their crowning achievement was their victory at the Stage 5 Major over the Toronto Ultra. Now, several months later the Minnesota RØKKR hope to replicate that success at the same venue in Arlington, Texas.
Attach is excited to perform on LAN with Vanguard
While the Kickoff Classic may not have the same weight as the Majors do, it is still a great way to show dominance over the other teams at the event. It is also the perfect way to feel Vanguard out against some of the best in the scene.
“We are feeling good going into the Vanguard season,” said Attach. “This tournament, the Kickoff Classic, is just a test to show where you and your team are at right now. Of course, everyone wants to do good and you want to have that momentum going into the first Major.”
The last time that the Minnesota RØKKR were in Arlington was when they pulled off the impossible with the reverse sweep over the Toronto Ultra to win the Stage 5 Major. It has been six months since that tournament and since the crowd went wild over their performance. While it may have been a while ago, the memory is still alive in Attach’s mind, especially since it was the only event win that Minnesota had from the Cold War season.
“It is definitely a special stadium,” Attach said. “Especially with all the craziness and how everything went last time we were here and the fashion we won it. It always feels good coming back here, we are just excited to get back to that stage. It’s a new game but we have some bigger goals this season.”
Coming up short
Despite the RØKKR being able to win a Major at the Esports Stadium, they were unable to replicate that magic in their match against the New York Subliners on day two of the Kickoff Classic. Subliners came out hot and kept getting hotter as the maps went on.
Their 3-0 loss to New York on their debut sent Minnesota home from the event a day early. Despite having the chemistry with their team from last season, they were not able to come out and show the work that they had put in during the off-season. New York just happened to be the better team on the day. However, Minnesota will be back when the Majors start up and are anxious to showcase what they’re capable of with more practice under their belts and a better sense of how other teams will play.
Attach wants to play more Call of Duty
The Call of Duty League is constantly undergoing changes to ensure that the franchise can be as successful as possible. However, the one thing that both players and fans have been calling on for years now is more games. One wish Attach has for the league is to see more Call of Duty being played.

“Definitely more Call of Duty being played at these tournaments,” said Attach. “I feel like if you start in the winner’s bracket or winner’s round one you only play three or four matches then you just win the whole tournament. It is always fun to get it over with quickly, but there is definitely something about Call of Duty and playing a lot of it to get those repetitions in. Even if we are playing some online tournaments and CDL teams at home, it gives us something to look forward to and practice in before these Major tournaments. I just want to play more Call of Duty.”
There is no telling if rule changes will come in from the league in terms of more games being played, but all twelve teams attending the Major events is a step in the right direction. Both Attach and the Minnesota RØKKR now have their sights set on the Minnesota Major for the official start of the Vanguard season.
