Over the weekend, Ubisoft held its first-ever Assassin’s Creed showcase at Ubisoft Forward. This event showcased a plethora of new information for the franchise’s future, including the reveal of four new titles. One of these titles was the previously-announced Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which got its first showcase at this event. At Ubisoft Forward, fans got to see a three-minute cinematic trailer for the game and learn about its main protagonist, the setting, and some plot points. However, one area the showcase didn’t go over was in regards to potential loot boxes.
This had some fans worried, as they didn’t want a promising game in the franchise to be marred by a controversial element like lootboxes and other forms of gambling. Luckily for these fans, though, Ubisoft came forward to state that nothing of the sort will be included in Mirage.

Gambling will not be a part of Assassin’s Creed Mirage
A tweet from the official Assassin’s Creed account confirms this information; this was largely in response to some websites incorrectly listing Mirage with an Adults Only ESRB rating. According to Ubisoft, the ESRB has not yet rated the game. Fans were worried that if the rumors of an AO rating were true, real-money gambling could somehow play a role. Ubisoft followed up by saying that Mirage will not feature any sort of gambling.

If this does in fact hold up, then it’s a huge bonus for the upcoming game. Lootboxes present a legal obstacle all their own as well, since some countries have outlawed games that include them. Now, unless Ubisoft completely goes back on its word, fans across the globe can rest easy knowing that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will not feature these controversial elements.
