Over the weekend, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign went live for digital pre-order players. This opened up the MW2 application for the first time since the open beta in September. As a result, some players discovered a way to gain access to some multiplayer elements of MW2. This could be done by pressing a specific button on the “Welcome to the campaign” screen. The players that managed to look at multiplayer early could see the entire Gunsmith system. With that, players could view all 50+ weapons coming to Modern Warfare 2 at launch.

We got confirmation of the total weapon count and how many weapons are in each category last week with a new launch blog from Activision. However, now we know the names and images of the weapons in multiplayer. We’ll list all of the weapons that are currently viewable in MW2 down below.

Modern Warfare 2 launch weapons

Something to note prior to listing the weapons, there appear to be some discrepancies in the current list of weapons compared to what Activision said in its earlier blog on Modern Warfare 2; mainly in the amount of weapons in some categories. At the moment, it’s unclear how this will be handled for launch, but at the very least we have information on a majority of the weapons in MW2.

It’s unknown whether or not some of these weapons will be removed, as there are more here than Activision originally advertised for the launch of Modern Warfare 2. Some weapons could be saved for future seasonal updates, like Season 1 on Nov. 16.
