Pokémon Scarlet and Violet present fans of the series with the opportunity to get a brand new experience in the Paldea region while linking to past adventures. These games can connect to just about every other recently-released Pokémon game.

Multiple special items are available inside Scarlet and Violet and outside of them through connecting to other Pokémon games. Here are all of the rewards available by linking Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to other games.

Linking Scarlet and Violet to Pokémon GO

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be able to connect to Pokémon GO sometime in 2023. Players can already see the Paldean native Gimmighoul in Pokémon GO by collecting coins at PokéStops. However, players will only be able to catch it after linking Scarlet and Violet to Pokémon GO.

Notably, the Roaming Form of Gimmighoul that will be catchable in Pokémon GO reportedly is not actually catchable in Scarlet and Violet. While it appears in the overworld of Scarlet and Violet, it only drops coins that can then be used to evolve Gimmighoul’s Chest Form. As a result, it seems Pokémon GO is the only game where players will actually be able to obtain a Roaming Form Gimmighoul and use it in battle.

Pokémon UNITE

A new set of cosmetics based on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will soon make its way to Pokémon UNITE. UNITE players will be able to dress their avatar in the school uniforms from Pokemon Scarlet’s Naranja Academy or Pokemon Violet’s Uva Academy.

To be eligible for these outfits, players simply need to log in to Pokémon UNITE on a Nintendo Switch that has a save file for Pokémon Scarlet or Violet. These rewards will become available beginning on December 1.

Pokémon HOME

Like with Pokémon GO, players will be able to start linking their copies of Scarlet and Violet to Pokémon HOME beginning sometime in 2023. This will naturally allow trainers to bring Pokémon to the Paldea region that are not accessible in the wild.

Importantly, this will also be the only way to bring Pokémon that were introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus to Scarlet and Violet. Pokémon in Paldea will not naturally evolve into their Hisuian evolutions. This means trainers can only get such Pokémon by transferring them over.

Linking Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to other Switch games

Finally, trainers in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet can get up to four decorative cases for their in-game Rotom Phone if they have save data for other Pokémon games on their Switch. Here are the available case themes and what games the player must have save data for to get them:

  • Arceus (Pokémon Legends: Arceus)
  • Ball Guy (Pokémon Sword and Shield)
  • Pokétch (Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl)
  • Pikachu and Eevee (Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!)
