One of the most common types in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, here are all the weakness to Normal-Type Pokémon and some good Pokémon to use against them. Fitting of the name, not a lot of types are weak to Normal, but that also means it doesn’t have many weaknesses. Just keep in mind, however, not many doesn’t mean none.

Normal-Type Pokémon biggest weakness: Fighting

Battling against a pure Normal-Type Pokémon isn’t too hard, as there isn’t any type that does half damage to them. However, Ghost-Type moves cant hit Normal-Type Pokémon whatsoever. The trade-off is that Fighting-Type moves are the only move type that do double damage to Normal-Type Pokémon. This also means that if a Pokémon is a type combination where one of them is Normal, they probably just gained Ghost-Type immunity but a Fighting-Type weakness.

This doesn’t apply to all type combinations, however. For example, Staraptor has a Flying/Normal type combination, negating the Fighting-Type weakness while keeping the Ghost-Type immunity.

Good Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet to use against Normal-Types

Here are some great Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet to use against Normal-Types.

Tauros

With the interesting addition of the multiple type combination Tauros in Paldea, all of them are great Fighting-Types you can use against Normal-Type Pokémon. With high Speed, HP and Attack stats, they all have their own uses against strong Normal-Types. If you want to cover your bases and get another powerful type in your arsenal, go for the Fire or Water variants. But, if you want to bullrush through your opponents, you can stick to the pure Fighting-Type Tauros as well.

Lucario

Lucario has remained one of the best Fighting-Type Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet thanks to its high stats. This Pokémon is interesting as a Fighting/Steel type combination with very high Special Attack, Attack and Speed stats. You can build him to be both a Special and Physical attacker and delete tons of Pokémon. Plus, with its great type combination that has tons of strengths, Lucario will always prove useful, but especially against Normal-Types.

Gallade

Out of the two evolutions possible from Kirlia, Gallade is the one you’d want if you want to clear out Normal-Type Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet. Thanks to its ability Sharpness the move Sacred Sword, it turns into one of the best Normal-Type destroyers possible. Gallade also proves useful in the fact that it has high Attack and Special Defense, making it good against those Normal type combination Pokémon who have a high Special Attack. Plus, with all the different type of cutting moves it can learn and get powered up, it can do a lot for you in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
