For any fighting game fan, one of the most formative parts of the competitive experience is finding their main. Most characters in any given fighting game function differently, so finding a character that matches your preferred playstyle is an integral part of growing as a player.

Naturally, when a new iteration of your favorite franchise adds new characters, it gives you the chance to re-evaluate what fighter would be best for you. Tekken 7 gave players the chance to pick from more than 50 fighters, opening up a wide number of ways to possibly play the game. Here’s an overview of all of the new characters added in Tekken 7.

Tekken 7 new characters

In total, Tekken 7 introduced 17 new characters that players could choose to use in esports competitions. One of these, Jack-7, was simply the latest version of the recurring robotic Jack character. In addition, the game featured four guest characters: Akuma from Street Fighter, Geese Howard from Fatal Fury, Negan Smith from The Walking Dead and Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy.

Here are the other newcomers that debuted in Tekken 7:

  • Claudio Serafino
  • Katarina Alves
  • Lucky Chloe
  • Shaheen
  • Josie Rizal
  • Gigas
  • Kazumi Mishima
  • Master Raven
  • Leroy Smith
  • Fahkumram
  • Kunimitsu II
  • Lidia Sobieska

It’s worth noting that multiple new characters have a connection to previously-introduced characters in the Tekken series. For example, Kunimitsu II is Kunimitsu’s daughter and Master Raven is Raven’s senior officer. Meanwhile, Kazumi Mishima is connected to the main family of the franchise as she is the deceased wife of Heihachi Mishima, mother of Kazuya Mishima and grandmother of Jin Kazama.

Then, even more characters were added for the console launch of the game. From there, several waves of downloadable content were released to round out the roster.
